About Reno Roofers
RenoRoofingCo.com is the Reno homeowner's roofing guide. We publish straight answers about roofs in the Truckee Meadows — real 2026 prices, real timelines, and the local specifics that national roofing sites get wrong: what high-desert UV does to a "30-year" shingle, what the Washoe Zephyr does to a four-nail install, what Washoe County actually requires before a crew shows up.
We are not a roofing company. Nobody here will climb your roof or sell you one.
Why this site exists
Roofing is a five-figure decision most people make twice in a lifetime, with almost no way to check what they're told. National cost guides quote averages from climates nothing like ours. Contractor sites are sales pages. And the honest local knowledge — which wind rating matters here, why overlays backfire at this elevation, what the permit really costs — mostly lives in the heads of people with something to sell you.
So we write it down. Every page aims to answer its question completely enough that you could make the decision without ever contacting anyone — including us.
Who writes this
Articles are researched, written, and kept current by the Reno Roofers team, checked against the named sources below. Every article carries a "Last updated" date.
How we research
- Named sources over vibes. We cite the NRCA, manufacturer technical documentation (GAF, Owens Corning), ASTM standards, Washoe County Building & Safety, Truckee Meadows Fire & Rescue, and the Nevada State Contractors Board — and we link or name them in the articles.
- Local numbers, checked locally. Price ranges reflect the Reno–Sparks market, not national averages. Where we haven't yet verified a figure against current local fee schedules or bids, we say so on the page rather than inventing precision.
- Updates. Roofing prices and codes move. Each page shows its last-updated date, and cost guides are reviewed as the market changes.
If you find an error, tell us: hello@renoroofingco.com. We'd rather fix it than defend it.
How we make money (the plain version)
Reading this site is free and always will be. We don't run banner ads and we never charge homeowners for anything.
Some pages — our cost guides — include an option to request a quote or call about your roof. That's how the site is funded:
RenoRoofingCo.com is an independent homeowner resource. If you request a quote or call, we may connect you with a licensed local roofing contractor and may be compensated for that referral. We never charge homeowners.
What that means in practice:
- Our educational pages have no sales pitch. Learn and Process articles carry no phone numbers, no forms, no "act now." They exist to answer the question.
- Referrals are disclosed where they happen. Any page with a quote option carries the disclosure above, visibly.
- Compensation doesn't touch the content. No contractor pays to be recommended in an article, edits our copy, or sees it before you do. Our price ranges and advice would read the same if the referral program didn't exist — that independence is the only reason the site is worth anything.
- Licensed contractors only. Any contractor we connect readers with must hold an active Nevada State Contractors Board C-15/C-15a roofing license. We encourage you to verify any license yourself at nscb.nv.gov — we show you how in our articles.
Where we cover
Reno, Sparks, and Carson City, Nevada — the Truckee Meadows and its edges, zip codes 89501–89523 and 89431–89441, from the Old Southwest to Spanish Springs, Somersett to Damonte Ranch, and the WUI foothill neighborhoods of Caughlin Ranch and Galena.
